Myths About RE/MAX
1. ONCE YOU START WORKING AT RE/MAX YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN
- This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions about RE/MAX.
The fact is that between marketing meetings, motivational meetings, bi-weekly or monthly office meetings and just agent to agent support we are highly interactive and supportive of one another.
The fact of the matter is the more RE/MAX Real Estate Center for sale signs the better it is for everyone. What makes RE/MAX such a powerful concept is that you have more professional freedom and independence but by no means does this constitute being left on your own.
2. THE ONLY REASON AGENTS COME TO RE/MAX IS BECAUSE OF THE 95/5 COMMISSION SPLIT
- A recent poll done by RE/MAX International and Daryl Jasperson, President of RE/MAX International states, “Even in the early days when the Maximum Commission Concept was challenging the industry’s typical 50/50 commission split, Associates joined RE/MAX offices for a wide variety of reasons."
- Below are the reasons poll participants gave for joining a RE/MAX office:
- Compensation 26%
- Independence 23%
- Broker/Owner 19%
- Company reputation 11%
- Market presence 9%
- Location 8%
- Colleagues/Associates 2%
- Other 2%
3. MOST RE/MAX AGENTS ARE “SHARKS”
- Another one of those big misconceptions! On the contrary we are very helpful to one another. With interactive marketing meetings and office meetings we live by the premises of helping one another and sharing can only help the whole office. With serious professional minded agents we can all learn from one another. Continuing education and new technology is a very important part of most of RE/MAX Real Estate Centers agent’s business plans.
4. THE FEES AT RE/MAX ARE HIGH
-
Wouldn’t everyone competing with RE/MAX like you to think this way?
In fact after ALL expenses the NET commission split that you end up on is still very much higher than what most agents are now on. This does not take into account the other reasons to come to RE/MAX and that most agents’ income increases, in some cases dramatically, when they start working at RE/MAX. You can e-mail your production numbers to me and I will give you a confidential evaluation of what you would have made at RE/MAX AFTER all monthly fees.
5. THE ONLY OPTIONS AT RE/MAX ARE TO PAY THE HIGH FEES AND BE ON A 95% COMMISSION SPLIT
- Here at RE/MAX Real Estate Center you have several options. With the traditional commission split, with starting graduated commission splits ranging from 50/50, 60/40 and 70/30. If the 100% concept is not for you why not be at an office that has a very aggressive commission splits, all full time progressive professional agents and top notch facilities and equipment. When you are around these agents you can only learn and grow your business.
6. YOU HAVE TO MAKE $100,000 TO WORK AT RE/MAX
- The production of RE/MAX Real Estate Centers over 80 agents ranges from $25,000 to over $500,000 year. If you do 6 to 7 transactions a year you are a potential candidate for RE/MAX. It is not your production that counts as much as your attitude!
7. YOU CANNOT MAKE IT AT RE/MAX BECAUSE YOUR SUCCESSFUL AT YOUR PRESENT OFFICE BECAUSE OF THE OFFICE AFFILIATION AND NOT YOU
- All successful agents are that way because of there own hard work and abilities and has nothing to do with there present affiliation. The office you are at will make you believe that you are successful because of them, i.e. relocation is being fed to you-Even if this is true the higher fees you pay and the more work you do does not make sense. If a large majority of your business is relocation then you have a great past client list to farm and cultivate your future business. These people have a relationship with you not the company you worked for. Any particular owner/manager who says that you cannot make it at RE/MAX is someone who does not believe in your abilities and you have to wonder why you work for someone who does not believe in you.
